PHOENIX CEMETERY, Mauritius
Location:
Phoenix Cemetery is a large Civil Cemetery near Vacaos. The majority of the Commonwealth war graves are situated in the military section which is approximately 50 metres to the right of the main entrance. This section also contains many non-war military graves. The Phoenix Memorial is located just in front of the main cemetery entrance.
Historical Information:
There are 8 Commonwealth burials of the 1914-1918 war and 17 of the 1939-1945 war in this cemetery. There are an additional 91 unrecorded non world war burials in this site, which is wholely maintained by the Commission.
