War Grave or Memorial Photographers
If you have a camera, you can be part of this very unique endeavour, by contributing war grave or memorial photographs. The process couldn't be more simple. Follow these easy steps:
1. Peruse the Archive Cemetery/Memorial pages on the web-site to see whether there are any cemeteries or memorials in your area or country, that require photographing.
2. Contact the relevant Area Coordinators for information and details. The Archive holds lists of details of all Australian war dead from the Boer War (1899-1902) to the Present Day. Essentially, we can direct you accurately to a war grave in any location, including cemetery, plot, row and grave details. If it is a Memorial you are seeking, we can direct you to a Panel. We then e-mail you all the details you need, you print the details and take them with you for reference.
3. You visit the cemetery/memorial and take the photos - see Photo Guide for AWGPA photo specifications.
4. When you've finished photographing the graves/memorial names, download the images and e-mail them, burn to CD and post to the Archive postal address, or send hardcopy images.
The Volunteer Photographers will be recognised for their efforts and contribution, by having their names plcaed on the corresponding page/s of the photographs that they took, on the eventual Archive Web-site.

Area, Regional or Country Coordinators
Do you think you could run a country??
Coordinators organise the Archive from an area, region or country level. They are the first point of contact for that particular area and are responsible for directing potential volunteers to grave or memorial locations, replying to correspondence, monitoring progress, collecting photos and updating the Archive Director. If you feel that you would like to become a Coordinator, please contact the Director.
Positions Available
- Germany
Administrative
The numbers of casualties that the AWGPA deals with, require large and detailed lists, indicating information related to the casualty. Additionally there will be vast numbers of images and other paraphenalia that will require sorting, cataloguing and manipulating.
If you are familiar with Excel, Word and desktop Publishing software, please contact the Driector. As with the Photographers, the positions are voluntary at present.
We are in need of voluntary assistance in re-naming of photos for use on the website.
Web-site Design and Database Creation
We are seeking a professional, experienced Web designer and Database creator to join the team. This would be a voluntary position in the first instance, and may suit a University IT student looking for work experience.
At present, the AWGPA website is a staic site, containing information related to the everyday running of the Achive. However, the future will see and online, searchable database, containing the images and information of every Australian killed as the result of war.
Contact the Archive Coordinator for details: australianwargraves@bigpond.com
Original Photographs and Documents
We are seeking original photos of Casualties and cemetery/memorial locations. Please don't send original documents or images, rather a scanned copy or high resolution hardcopy image would be ideal. Contact the Archive Director for contributions.
